Something I’ve started doing in summer is looking for snowflake geometry in everything around me. The spiral of a sunflower. The branching of a fern. The radial symmetry of a daisy. The same mathematical impulse that builds a crystal is quietly running through the entire natural world all year long. Winter just makes it visible in a way nothing else does. The rest of the year I find it hiding in plain sight everywhere I look. ❄️ #preservedsnowflake #geometryinnature #summersnowflakes #natureart

"The cause of the six-sided shape of a snowflake is none other than that of the ordered shapes of plants and of numerical constants; and since in them nothing occurs without supreme reason—not, to be sure, such as discursive reasoning discovers, but such as existed from the first in the Creators's design and is preserved from that origin to this day in the wonderful nature of animal faculties, I do not believe that even in a snowflake this ordered pattern exists at random." — Johannes Kepler | S

Geometry of Winter: Building a Snowflake - We created this animation to show how a simple triangle grows into a beautiful snowflake using fractals. Starting with a basic shape, each side splits and forms smaller triangles over and over again, creating a complex, symmetrical pattern. It’s a perfect example of how simple math can lead to stunning natural designs. | The Brain Maze

Bitofact | Educational Facts and Videos on Instagram: "Snowflakes look simple from far away, but up close, each one is a tiny piece of frozen geometry. As a snow crystal forms in the clouds, temperature and humidity shift second by second — carving out sharp edges, branching arms, and insanely detailed patterns. That’s why no two flakes ever grow the same way, and why a close-up photo reveals a level of symmetry your eyes can’t catch in free fall. What other everyday things look simple until you

Geometry in Nature on Instagram: "Reversed video of snowflake melting — Why are snowflakes hexagonal? Since the molecules in the ice crystals are in a hexagonal structure, an arrangement that allows water molecules — each with an oxygen atom and two hydrogen atoms — to form in the most efficient way. They can form columns and even narrow needles. But the most common is a hexagonal plate. The basic reason is that when water freezes it forms a hexagon made of 6 molecules, which has a bent geometry
